BURLINGTON – Marvin Ridge High School won a team championship in boys tennis after players secured victories in the 3A tournament.

Rish Reddy and Harrison Williams reached the state finals in doubles play. Soham Pradhan advanced to the semifinals while the duo of Jack Poelke and Aryan Vinay made the quarterfinals.

Reddy and Williams defeated Colin O’Hagerty & Brandon Gwinn (Orange) 6-2, 6-1 in the first round; Snyder Pearson and Hatten Gore (Fike) 6-2, 6-1 in the quarterfinals; and Emerson Woolwine and Knox Lamar (New Hanover) 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals. They lost to Griffin Lovern amd Costen Holtzman (Hickory) 6-3, 7-5 in the finals.

Poelke and Vinay defeated Wayne Vanderford and Alex Whang (Chapel Hill) 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 before losing to Griffin Lovern and Costen Holtzman (Hickory) 6-0, 4-6, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.

Pradhan (Marvin Ridge) defeated Eddy Ferreira (Chapel Hill) 6-2, 6-4 in the first round and Andrew Ganley (Watauga) 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals before losing to Joshua Mayhew (Cedar Ridge) 6-2, 6-4 in the semifinals.

Other regional qualifiers

Noah Hathout (Ardrey Kell) defeated Sawyer Hanna (Wakefield) 6-1, 6-2 in the first round, but he lost to Walker Valentine (Lake Norman) 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.

Ben Moore (Myers Park) defeated Alex Higgins (Leesville Road) 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the first round, but he lost to Marshall Landry (Pinecrest) 6-0, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.

Individual players Alex Bhargava (CATA), Nicholas Clementi (Charlotte Catholic), Kemp Garand (Providence) and Shiven Tiwari (Ardrey Kell) lost in the first round.

Doubles teams of Jacob Anthony and Rishi Sadanandan (Ardrey Kell), Stefan Mihailescu and Grant Partridge (Providence), Sam Stapleton and Daniel Rohlman (Providence) and Jake Spiva and John Kelly (Myers Park) lost in the first round.
