MATTHEWS – Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity will dedicate its 114th home May 15.

The nonprofit invites the community to watch the dedication by visiting www.gmhfh.click/FBLive at 10 a.m.

Home dedications celebrate both the hard work of homeowners and the generosity of their sponsors.

Celestin, and his mother Marie, will be purchasing the home through an interest-free affordable mortgage with Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity. They also contributed over 200 hours of “sweat equity” in lieu of a down payment.

The family, which includes four other sons, immigrated to the United States from Rwanda.

Since then, the entire family has been sharing small apartments but eagerly closed on the house last week.

Sponsors for this home include The Wells Fargo Foundation, Matthews Presbyterian Church and Matthews United Methodist Church. Several individuals donated as well.
