Trip to Uwharrie Vineyards, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Area residents can take a trip to Uwharrie Vineyards in Albemarle.  People interested in attending should meet at the Belle Johnston Community center at 9:30 a.m. and return at 3 p.m. following the tour and wine tasting.  The event costs $10 to attend, which includes a wine tasting and gas.

Annual Boo Bash, noon to 2 p.m.
The Pineville Police Department will host the sixth annual Boo Bash at the Pineville Towne Market.  The event is free to attend and will include trick-or-treat bags with candy, face painting, balloon artists, a trackless train, carnival games, inflatable sport centers, golf challenge, cornhole, spin art, popcorn, free finger painting for kids and more.  Snoopy the Beagle, police vehicle and K-9 units also will be at the event.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat, 6 to 8 p.m.
Families are invited to the Halloween Trick-or-Treat event at Lake Park.  Local businesses will be at the event handing out coupons and candy to trick-or-treaters.  There also will be awards for the best costume.

Community yard sale, 7 a.m. to noon
Pineville Parks and Recreation will host the Fall Community Yard Sale at the Belle Johnston Community Center.  Twenty tables are available for $10, with a limit of one per household.  Stop by the community center prior to the event to reserve a table.

President James K. Polk birthday celebration, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The President James K. Polk State Historic Site will host a birthday celebration in honor of President James K. Polk’s 218th birthday.  The program will bring the Polk family back to life at the time and place of the former president’s birth: Mecklenburg County in November 1795.  Activities will include costumed interpretation, open-hearth cooking, time period music and hands-on children’s games.  Birthday cake will be served at the end of the event.  The celebration is free to attend and open to the public. The American Legion meeting, 6 p.m.
Pineville Post 337 hosts its monthly meetings the first Tuesday of every month at The Hut with a dinner at 6 p.m. and meeting at 7 p.m. All area veterans are welcome to attend to learn what the group does throughout the community and country. For more information, call 704-543-2833.

Bite of the Apple art exhibit, 6:30 to 10 p.m.
The Civic and Cultural Arts Center of Pineville will host an opening reception for the art educator’s exhibit Bite of the Apple.  Light refreshments and live music will be provided, and awards also will be given out.  The exhibit will be on display at the center through Dec. 14 on Tuesdays through Saturdays.

The Pineville Town Council will host its monthly meeting at the Hut.  An agenda for the meeting can be obtained prior to the meeting by contacting town hall at 704-889-2291.

Purses with Power Auction and Social, 7 p.m.
The Arthritis Foundation will host the ninth annual Purses with Power Auction and Social at Felix Sabates Mercedes Benz of south Charlotte in Pineville.  The event will feature food from local restaurants such as BlackFinn, Hickory Tavern and Southern Gourmet, along with an auction of designer purses, home accessories, dining packages and more.  Tickets for this year’s event cost $40 per person or $120 for a group of four and the Girls’ Night Out package.  All funds raised at the event will benefit the Arthritis Foundation’s mid-Atlantic region. Photography and White House Exhibit
The President James K. Polk Historic Site is showing its Photography and White House Exhibit from now until Dec. 31. The exhibit focuses on the photography in the White House during Polk’s presidency, with Polk being among the first presidents to use photography to communicate with the American people. All exhibits at the Polk site are free to attend.
