Calvary ready for ‘Born is the King’

Calvary Church, fresh off the unveiling of its brand new life center, is looking to get more involved with the local community with next month’s “Born is the King” Christmas concert.

The event is Dec. 9, a Sunday, at 9:45 a.m. and again at 6 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The Calvary Choir and Orchestra, as well as the youth and children’s choirs, will perform.

The event is free and open to the community. Child care is available for kids ages 4 and younger. There will be an American Sign Language interpretation of the 9:45 a.m. performance.

Paintball with your church

Morningstar United Methodist Church is getting outside the sanctuary and into the paintball field to raise money for charity.

The church’s last paintball match, which was played on 17 wooded acres, raised $380 to help victims of Hurricane Sandy. The church’s next game is Dec. 8, a Saturday, and people can come to play or just watch. Rentals are available at the location.

Tea with the Sharon UMC ladies

The annual United Methodist Women Christmas Tea is approaching at Sharon United Methodist Church.

The event, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. at the church, is for “mothers, daughters, youth girls and girlfriends,” according to a church news release. There will be a devotional program and an offering for The Children’s Home, as well as tea, snacks and fellowship.

Support service coming up at Myers Park UMC

Myers Park United Methodist Church will offer its Service of Hope and Consolation program next month.

The program, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m., is for people who have suffered the death of a loved one or other loss. Child care is available.
