New pastor joins Carmel Baptist
Alex Kennedy is the new senior pastor at Carmel Baptist Church.
The congregation welcomed Kennedy on Sunday, Oct. 28, following the retirement of Dr. Wayne Poplin, who was with Carmel Baptist for 21 years.
Kennedy was senior pastor for 10 years at Kingsland Baptist Church in Katy, Texas.
“Pastor Alex has focused his ministry on helping people connect with God, learn to genuinely love others and serve the local community,” said Anne Goodyear, vice-chair of the church’s pastor selection committee, in a news release. “That fits our ministry at Carmel exactly.  Pastor Alex is a very practical, authentic teacher, and the Carmel Family is looking forward to his arrival.”
Kennedy, and his wife, Christy, have four children.
