Crews are starting work on replacing a bridge to the Lower McAlpine Creek Greenway after the last one was damaged by high water years ago. Crews first will demolish what’s left of the old bridge before starting work on the new, raised bridge. The bridge will go up 5 feet higher than the previous one in hopes that it will survive in periods of flooding. The entrance to the greenway where the bridge will go is to the left of the Pike’s Nursery at 12630 North Community House Road in the Streets of Toringdon shopping center, off Johnston Road. Greenway officials hope to have everything done by the fall.
