A baby great horned owl is now back home in Ballantyne.

The animal was found in early March in the Ballantyne Corporate Park. It was taken to the Carolina Raptor Center, in Huntersville, for rehabilitation, and then released back at the park after a small ceremony earlier this month. Heather Moeller, with the Carolina Raptor Center, released the owl and talked to those gathered about the center and why rehabilitating birds like owls is important for the local environment.

Before it was released, people at the ceremony named the owl Lil’ Urho.
