Closings up, prices down for Charlotte home sales

The Charlotte region saw more homes sold in August but for a lower average price when compared to both August 2010 and July 2011.
The Charlotte Regional Realtor Association says 2,289 homes sold this August at an average price of $205,915. That’s a mixed bag of news when compared to August 2010 (1,822 homes at an average of $226,716) and July 2011 (2,173 homes at an average of $213,371).
This mimics a trend seen in south Charlotte last month, when home sales increased by three compared to July 2011 but dropped in average price over the same time by more than $4,000.
