Tamela Rich will hop on her motorcycle Saturday, bound for the West Coast.

Rich rode across the country last year in an attempt to raise money for breast cancer causes. This year, she’ll be interviewing cancer survivors on her 40-day trip and using their stories for the book “Live Full Throttle: What you can learn about life from women who’ve faced cancer.”

Her ride starts Saturday, June 18, from Motorcycles of Charlotte at 731 Westinghouse Blvd. People are invited out to the opening ceremony event for Rich’s ride, and are encouraged to decorate their motorcycles in pink.

For every motorcycle decorated in pink, Motorcycles of Charlotte will donate $25 to DrumSTRONG, a local cancer fundraising organization. Last year, Rich decorated her bike with a pink bra. This year’s bra was selected from a bra-decorating contest at a local fundraiser.

DrumSTRONG will divide money Rich collects on the trip to Carolina Breast Friends and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
