South Charlotte schools named winners in world Odyssey

Two south Charlotte schools took top honors at the 2012 Odyssey of the Mind World Competition recently in Ames, Iowa.

Both Beverly Woods Elementary and Community House Middle took first place in their competitions. This is the second straight year Beverly Woods has won at the world competition.

Only 19 teams out of 815 were named first-place winners at the creative problem-solving competition, which was founded to promote innovative thinking. Teams at the world competition were recognized as the best at the state level in order to qualify.

Several other south Charlotte teams competed at the world competition. Their rankings are:

Beverly Woods Elementary School – 1st
