Local students named college-sponsored Merit Scholars

Several south Charlotte students were recently named winners in the third round of the National Merit Scholarship program.

These college-sponsored scholarships provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution awarding the scholarship.  Earlier this spring, winners of corporate–sponsored Merit Scholarships and National Merit $2,500 Scholarships were announced.

The following south Charlotte students were named winners of college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships:

• Neha Kukreja, Providence Day School
• Jack L. Largess, Myers Park High
• Shiamak Ratra, Ardrey Kell High
• Charles A. Sowers, Providence Day School
• Charles M. Story, homeschool
• Andrew R. Sun, Providence High
