Local schools to advance to state academic competition

Several south Charlotte schools will advance to the state Odyssey of the Mind competition March 31, after competing at the Central Region competition at Wingate University on Friday, March 3.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students, kindergarten through college.

The following south Charlotte teams will advance to the state competition:

• Beverly Woods Elementary School – Two teams to advance in “To Be or Not To Be” and “Weird Science” categories.

• Carmel Christian School – One team to advance in “Weird Science” category.

• Carmel Middle School – One team to advance in “To Be or Not To Be” category.

• Charlotte Country Day School – Two teams to advance in “You Make the Call” and “Ooh-Motional Vehicle” categories.

• Charlotte Latin School – Two teams to advance in “Odyssey Angels” and “You Make the Call” categories.

• Community House Middle School – Three teams to advance to “Odyssey Angels,” “To Be or Not To Be” and “You Make the Call” categories.

• Elon Park Elementary School – One team to advance in “Odyssey Angels” category.

• McAlpine Elementary School – One team to advance in “Odyssey Angels” category.

• Myers Park High School – Five teams to advance in “Odyssey Angels,” “To Be or Not To Be,” “You Make the Call,” “Ooh-Motional Vehicle” and “Weird Science” categories.

• Sharon Elementary School – One team to advance in “You Make the Call” category.
