Charlotte Christian Upper School theatre students will present the musical “West Side Story” March 29 through 31, Thursday through Saturday, at 7 p.m. each night.

The show follows the classic theme of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” in modern-day New York City, as two young dreamers find themselves between waring street gangs and a hope for a better tomorrow, according to a news release. The story is based on the book by Arthur Laurents and conception of Jerome Robbins, with music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Tickets range between $7 and $10 and are available at the door, or in advance at www.carolinatix.org. All performances are in the school’s Lamb/Johnson Gymnasium, 7301 Sardis Road.

Contact the Charlotte Christian School Fine Arts Department at 704-366-5657 or visit www.charlottechristian.com/showtickets for more information.
