Irma Boom, a graphic designer from Amsterdam, will speak Thursday, April 12, as part of the Mint Museum’s Contemporary Architecture + Design series.
Boom specializes in making books, incorporating the sense of touch into each one. She won the 2007 gold medal at the Leipzig Book Fair for “The Most Beautiful Book in the World” for “Sheila Hicks: Weaving as Metaphor.”
Boom currently is working with Annie Carlano, the museum’s director of craft and design, on a book about Hick’s work “Mega Footprint Near the Hutch.”
Boom’s discussion is at 7 p.m. and costs $10 for nonmembers and $5 for members. Find more information and register for the event at the museum’s website, www.mintmuseum.org.
The discussion is at the Mint Museum Uptown, 500 S. Tryon St.
