The community-outreach initiative “Dances of India” is coming to Central Piedmont Community College next month.

Dr. Maha Gingrich, an internationally acclaimed performer and choreographer who works as the assistant to the public information officer at the school, is one of the more than 30 dancers who will perform a series of traditional Indian temple dances. The rhythmic dance style tells the story of ancient India through lyrical movement and music.

The event has sold out each performance for the past 10 years. It includes numerous distinct dance styles performed to live music.

The event is April 28 at 4 p.m. at the school’s Halton Theater, 1206 Elizabeth Ave. Find more on the event at the school’s event website, http://tix.cpcc.edu/events/dances_of_india.
