Award-winning pianist Joyce Yang will team up with guest conductor and North Carolina Symphony Music Director Grant Llewellyn next month for a special concert.
The two will help present the works of Franz Liszt and Sergei Rachmaninoff in a concert “full of warm, romantic pieces and lively dances,” according to a Charlotte Symphony news release. People have two chances to see the concert, Jan. 13 and 14.
Yang won the silver medal at the 2005 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. She’ll perform Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” and Lizst’s “Mephisto Waltz No. 3.”
A pre-concert “Musically Speaking Chat” with lecturer Anna Brock begins at 7 p.m. inside the theater on the Orchestra level. A post-concert “Musically Speaking Talk-Back” with Yang and Llewellyn starts immediately following the concert.
