Bernstein honored for commitment to Charlotte Symphony

Mark Bernstein is the 2011 Sally Ann Hall Spirit of the Symphony Award winner.

The symphony gives the annual award to a person who shows a special commitment to the organization. Hall, the award’s namesake, is a former member of the symphony’s board of directors and former president of the board of Oratorio Singers of Charlotte.

Bernstein has been a symphony advocate for 50 years, and while a member of the board, he pushed to establish the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.

Bernstein will receive his award Friday, Nov. 11, at a performance of Mozart’s Symphony No. 41, Jupiter, and Mozart Requiem at 8 p.m. at the Belk Theater. Find more information and buy tickets at the symphony’s website, www.charlottesymphony.org.

Also, the symphony will begin offering “Choose 5,” a new subscription package that will allow guests to buy tickets for five shows they’d like to attend instead of the traditional model.

The new subscription package will cost less, starting at $105 for the five shows.
