People tell Sean O’Connell he has the coolest job, and on most days he’d agree. His position as Arts & Entertainment editor/movie critic at Charlotte Weekly only feels like work when he’s tasked to review another Sharon Stone film or report on the latest reality-television craze.
Sean joined the paper shortly after its launch in 2002. He has interviewed Harrison Ford, covered the Toronto International Film Festival, reviewed “Sesame Street Live” and walked the red carpet for a world premiere. Not content to voice his candid opinions from a laptop, Sean can be seen Friday mornings on WBTV News 3 and heard on WBT-AM’s “Charlotte’s Morning News with Al Gardner and Stacey Simms.” A member of the Online Film Critics Society and the Broadcast Film Critics Association, Sean has earned recognition from the North Carolina Press Association.
When the workday ends, Sean retreats home to watch Playhouse Disney with his wife and son, cheer on the Panthers/Bobcats/Dodgers, or catch up on rest.
