As a Waxhaw resident and journalist, Alison believes strongly in community journalism. She lives by the ethos that the right information at the right time could change someone’s life. She is a former executive producer at News 14 Carolina, a Time Warner 24-hour news station in Charlotte. She has worked for CNN Headline News and Emmy Award-winning anchor Linda Ellerbee and freelances for national and international news organizations, including MSNBC.com. She has worked at television stations in New York, Tampa, Sarasota, Orlando and Atlanta. Alison is a graduate of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and winner of the Leslie Rachel Sander Social Justice award for Outstanding Reporting. An avid reader, Alison launched Charlotte Weekly’s book club in summer 2005.
