Great Gatsby Party
The 19th annual Great Gatsby Party marked the most successful year to date for the Multiple Sclerosis Society Mid-Atlantic Chapter. On Aug. 18, patrons partied like it was 1922 at Wachovia Atrium, raising more than $81,000. The funds will support local outreach programs and research at the national level.
MS is a chronic, unpredictable and often disabling neurological disease that typically strikes otherwise healthy adults ages 20-50. For more about the local MS Society, visit www.nationalmssociety.org/ncp.
This Charlotte Weekly-sponsored event featured a costume contest, silent auction, swing dance competition and exhibition, and food from fine restaurants. Another fun feature was “Bubbles & Baubles.” Guests purchased $20 flutes of champagne holding a ¾-carat “bauble” from Karat Patch Jewelers; one was a real diamond valued at $2,500. Unfortunately, the authentic diamond was not found, so guests who have not yet had theirs inspected should to so at The Karat Patch, 901 Providence Road.
