Bonterra Builders bills its 1,300-home Bonterra Village in Indian Trail as “a community of lifestyles,” and truly it is.
Located on 450 acres less than four miles from Interstate 485, buyers may select from four series of homes at Bonterra Village. The range starts with 1,800-square-foot townhomes with prices in the $150s and climbs to a Craftsman series of single-family homes starting at 2,600 square feet and in the $250s.
With walking trails, a pool, fitness facility and neighborhood parks, Bonterra Village appeals to people with varying interests and at different life stages. For that reason, Scott Kelly, Bonterra Builders’ vice president of sales and marketing, describes it as a multigenerational neighborhood.
But it’s the amenity centerpiece, the equestrian center, that sets the tone at Bonterra Village. Equine details are infused subtly throughout the neighborhood, like horse heads in the mailbox design and streets with names such as Belmont and Saratoga. “It’s a very peaceful and relaxing scene when you pull into that entrance and see the horses grazing, and that was (the developer’s) vision,” explained Kelly of the facility located on Poplin Road.

Many people are moving across the border to Union County, but those in the market might be surprised to find single-family homes priced from the $200s at Bonterra Village. It’s a value that puts ownership within reach of more prospective homebuyers.
So what will potential buyers find at Bonterra Village besides horses? Twenty-seven floor plans are offered across four series; home owners may select from three-, four- and five-bedroom designs. Interiors are complete with prefinished hardwood flooring, trim packages, 42-inch kitchen cabinetry, 10-foot ceilings on the first floor and Whirlpool appliance packages.
One additional feature at Bonterra Village is the availability of live/work units. These approximately 1,700-square-foot units were designed so that retail could be offered on the first floor with residential space upstairs.
Kelly anticipates Bonterra Builders will have the community built out in the next five to seven years. In the meantime, the company is breaking ground on a new neighborhood called Barber Rock in July. It’s a 180-home development just south of Ballantyne in Lancaster County.
